On Completing

The late finale of the On——ing series — the essay written to close the first arc. Completion, here, is examined honestly: not the tidy click of a finished thing but the harder question of when something is actually done, and whether completion is ever fully reached or only declared. Coming near the end of the sequence, it carries the weight of the essays before it and reflects on the act of finishing itself. It pairs with On Returning, the coda that follows it; together they form the series' sense of an ending, this one facing the close directly while the other steps past it.

It is meant to be read late, with the weight of the essays before it, and it earns its title honestly rather than performing closure. Read alongside On Returning, it holds the harder half of the ending — the direct look at finishing — while the coda handles the gentler turn past it.
